A Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is a professional who assists the elderly, disabled or people in recovery with performing day-to-day activities. PCA Responsibilities may include but not limited to

  • Ensure client receives their medication on time
  • Provide companionship
  • Help client dress, bathe, eat etc., if requested
  • Assist client with simple exercises
  • Cook/prepare meals according to the client’s restrictions if needed
  • Do light housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Provide emotional support
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

PCA Skills and Requirements Needed

  • Commitment to health & safety
  • Able to do light housekeeping
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Positive and compassionate attitude
  • Strong ethics
  • Physical stamina
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Negative TB test
  • Clean criminal background check according to Georgia Dept of Community Health
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ​A valid driver’s license
